Mike Peters, our Head Coach,
will return to Southampton this summer for his fifth
season. A native New
Yorker and a graduate of Brown University, Mike competed on
a national level on the Brown
swim team, and has coached on the college, high school,
and US Swimming levels.
Mike is a native New Yorker, and is currently living and
working in Washington, DC.
Austin Bridgforth is returning
for her third season as an Assistant Coach with us.
She swam for SRA for 12 years
and NEVER missed a meet. Austin is a freshman at
William and Mary where she
is studying Biology and is on the women's Ultimate Frisbee team.
Cap Young is joining our staff
this year as an Assistant Coach, but Cap
swam for SRA for 13 years
and has been a long time helper at our practices
and meets, and yes, he is
Christopher's younger brother! Cap is a freshman
at Duke University where
he has enjoyed swimming on the university club team.
Mary Virginia Yancey is another
familiar face who will join our staff this season
as an Assistant Coach.
Mary Virginia swam for SRA for 13 years, and
spent several of her summers
teaching swim lessons at the Morgan School. Mary Virginia
is a junior at Virginia Tech
where she is studying History and French.
Alex Trivette joins us in
the new position of Mite Coach. Like Austin, Cap, and
Mary Virginia, Alex has grown
up in our program, and as Mite Coach he will be an
additional qualified instructor
for our younger swimmers. Alex is a junior at Collegiate,
where he was a captain of
their 2007 State Champion boys swim team.
We want to extend our best
wishes to our 2006 Head Coach, David Stott, who returned
to New York City after last
summer to again apply his writing and creative talents
to the larger world!
We also want to send good luck and good thoughts to our very
own Christopher Young, who
will be the Head Coach for Kanawha Recreation Association
this summer. After
four seasons as an Assistant Coach for us, we are going to miss
Christopher a great deal,
but won't the July 2nd SRA vs. KRA meet be fun?
Congratulations Chris!

9–10 Midgets

13–14 Intermediates
15–18* Seniors
* 18 year olds who turn 19 after
June 1 may swim the entire 2007 season.
Mini Mites & Mighty Mites
A Mini Mite is a first-year
swimmer, or any Mite, who is not yet ready to go to Mighty Mite practice.
A Mighty Mite is an experienced Mite who is ready for the challenge of
regular Mite practice. If you’re unsure which group is best for your child,
please ask a coach.
We always recommend regular age
group practice attendance, which helps your child make friends with teammates
and become a better swimmer, but we understand that situations arise where
us being flexible helps. Please let us know if you have short-term conflicts.
Our coaches try to be as flexible as possible and can, for a short time,
arrange for your child to attend another practice.
