2006 Swim Team Coaching Staff
Left to right: David Stott,
Chris Young, Austin Bridgforth, Mike Peters, James Watson
David Stott returns as our Head Coach this summer.
Many of you will remember his 10-year reign with us
in the 90s, and what a reign it was!
David has been living in NYC for several years, pursuing
his interest in writing and acting
while holding down a day job where he has to wear
a tie.
He’s ready to get back in his swim trunks and get
rid of the ties.
To quote David, “Let the good times roll!”
Mike Peters is a native New Yorker and a graduate of
Brown University,
and he spent the winter attending NYU. This is his
fourth season at SRA.
Mike competed on the Brown swim team and has coached
at the high school
and US Swimming levels.
Chris Young is a graduate of St. Christopher’s School
and has just finished
his freshman year at Davidson College. This is his
fourth year as an assistant
coach and his fourteenth summer at SRA. Whew!
Austin Bridgforth has been a familiar face on the SRA
team for many years.
This is her second year as an assistant coach and
her twelfth and final season
as a swimmer. Austin will graduate from Trinity Episcopal
School this spring,
and we’re waiting to hear about her college choice!
Former Head Coach Sarah Morck will return to France
this summer
to continue her education. She has spent the school
year teaching and coaching
at Collegiate School and is getting used to being
a grown up.
Sarah’s sad not to be spending the summer with her
SRA Super Heroes,
but will stay in touch by e-mail.

This schedule is subject to last minute changes, though
we’ll try to limit them.
Please note: Juniors practice at a new time this year.
After a careful review of our roster, we have determined
that combining juniors and midgets makes for a more manageable number of
swimmers at intermediate and senior practice.
This year we have a record number of seniors, and
those lanes are getting crowded!

Mini Mites & Mighty Mites
A Mini Mite is a first-year swimmer, or any Mite,
who is not yet ready to go to Mighty Mite practice. A Mighty Mite is an
experienced Mite who is ready for the challenge of regular Mite practice.
If you’re unsure which group is best for your child, please ask a coach.
About Practice
Many parents are perplexed by our practice schedule
and worry about how to
adjust when children have other commitments like camp
or vacation.
Please let the coaches know if your child will be
away from practice for an extended time.
We always recommend regular age group practice attendance, which helps your child make friends with teammates and become a better swimmer, but we understand that situations arise where us being flexible helps. Please let us know if you have short-term conflicts. Our coaches try to be as flexible as possible and can, for a short time, arrange for your child to attend another practice.
Team Suits
We will have a new team suit this year! Suits are
available at the Disco Sports store on Three Chopt Road, and a Disco rep
will be at SRA on Thursday, May 25, 4–6 p.m. with suits available for purchase.
