2008 Swim Team Coaching Staff

We are pleased to announce our coaching staff for the 2008 swim season:
Our Head Coach, Mike Peters,
will return to Southampton this summer
for his sixth season.A native
New Yorker and graduate of Brown University,
Mike competed on a national
level on theBrown University swim team
and has coached on the high
school, college and US Swimming levels.
Mike is currently living
in Washington, D.C. and working at Georgetown University.
Austin Bridgforth
is returning for her fourth season as an
Assistant Coach with us.
She swam for SRA for 12 years and never missed
a meet! Austin is a sophomore
at William and Mary, where she is studying
kinesiology and biochemistry
and playing on the Women’s Ultimate
Frisbee team. She is also
active in her co-ed service fraternity,
where she has started coaching
Special Olympics Swimming.
Cap Young is
returning this year for his second season as an Assistant Coach.
Cap swam for SRA for 13 years
and is a sophomore at Duke University,
where he swims for the university
club team.
Cap is studying English and
Economics and is playing on many intramural teams.
Mary Virginia Yancey
also returns this summer for her second season
as an Assistant Coach. Mary
Virginia swam 13 years for SRA and spent
several of her summers teaching
swim lessons at the Morgan School.
Mary Virginia is a senior
at Virginia Tech, graduating
this May with degrees in
History and French.
She enjoys running and being
active in RUF, her campus ministry.
Alex Trivette returns
as an Assistant Coach for us this summer.
Like Austin, Cap and Mary
Virginia, Alex has grown up in our program.
Alex is a senior at Collegiate
School, where he was a
captain of their 2007 and
2008 State Champion boys’ swim team.
Alex will be attending Georgetown
University this fall.

Mini Mites & Mighty Mites
A Mini Mite is a first-year
swimmer, or any Mite, who is not yet ready to go to Mighty Mite practice.
A Mighty Mite is an experienced Mite who is ready for the challenge of
regular Mite practice. If you’re unsure which group is best for your child,
please ask a coach.
