One of the great things about being President here at SRA is that you get to know a lot of “Heroes,” great folks who keep this place going and growing. Through their dedication and hard work, SRA remains a great place for our families and community.
Many of my SRA heroes have been very busy over the winter. The Ice Committee, led by Hero Kim Oliver, has raised almost $11,000 to help pay for the replacement of the ice rink walls. The first stage of this replacement will be complete by Memorial Day. We will be hearing more from our ice program this summer as we continue to raise money to complete that project. Look for banners bought by our community supporters, and please remember to thank them for their support.
Hero Al Yancey has spearheaded the Super Slide project; with the support of other SRA families, the slide is in place and ready for our kickoff party on Friday, May 25.
Heroes Susanne Sullivan, Jay Bush and Laura Hogan have led a project to refurbish our party room and the ladies bathroom in the clubhouse. It looks great: new ceiling, new floor, new doors, trim, and painted walls! With the help of their friends and volunteers, that project is a sparkling reflection of their commitment to SRA. We have also been able to make some improvements over the winter inside the pool pump-house, and all the bathroom partitions in all four bathrooms have been replaced. Thanks to Facilities VP John Cardwell and Pools Director Sue Elliott for planning those projects.
There are many other
heroes who have helped build SRA over the years. I bet you know at least
one of them. Please join me in thanking those I have mentioned—and those
others you know—for the contributions they make to our Association.
